About Paul Cauchi

53 Years of experience in the Greyhound Racing industry.

THE term “legend” is a bit like “champion”, an epithet often too loosely applied these days, but when it comes to Paul & his training history, these terms fit!

Paul has not only trained dozens of top-class greyhounds, including out-and-out champions like Ragsie and Pied Rebel and the mighty stayer Brettianly, but has been an influence on the career of many of today’s leading trainers.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

Hall Of Fame Induction – Australian Greyhound Racing Association (AGRA)

Leading Trainer in New South Wales 1971, 1972 and 1980’s.

Trained multiple winners of the Association Cup (Group 1)

Trained multiple winners of the National Sprint Championship (Group 1)

Trained multiple champion greyhounds including Pied Rebel, Ragsie, Coorparoo Flyer, Miami Moss, Clover Duke, Go Billy Go and Naralta.

When can I expect my share of prize money?
When the Greyhound earns prize money, your share of the prize money is paid out on the 1st Thursday of the following month. For example, if the Greyhound earns $5,000 in prize money in August, your share of that prize money is paid on the 1st Thursday of September.
Are there any ongoing costs?
No, there isn't. The ongoing costs for training, maintenance & racing fees is covered by the trainer's share of the prize money earned.
Am I able to sell my ownership later?
Yes. If you find yourself in a situation where you must sell your ownership due to personal or financial hardship, then we can aid you in doing so. The sale will be subject to the approval by governing racing authority (QRIC) of a new owner and aspects of the sale including price, market conditions and time frame are discussed with the seller client in order to obtain the best result possible.
Are there any risks involved?
Yes. While we use every possible resource to ensure that your greyhound has a lengthy and successful career, it is possible that the greyhound may get injured, requires a certain period of recovery or isn't able to race again. With that being said, our team of professionals take every necessary step to help ensure the health and well-being of your greyhound.
Do we receive regular updates?
Tes! Members receive regular updates, often weekly and from time to time personal SMS/Call updates. These updates usually include photos, video footage, written and/or audio reports on your greyhound and are designed to keep you informed as to its progress and movements. When trialing or racing, field nominations, pre-race and post-race comments on your greyhound are forwarded along with any other relevant information. We also hold kennel open days and track work sessions which allow our owners to be as involved as possible. We have also recently introduced detailed race assessments which are sent to owners prior to race day. Providing such assessments to owners insures detailed information on all runners in the race and gives owners an outsiders opinion on the field and possible race scenarios.
What’s included with my ownership?
The upfront price for the purchase of your ownership in the syndicate covers the following costs - Market price of the Greyhound ($5,000+) - Rearing ($65 – $75 per week x 48 weeks) - Breaking in ($120 – $150 per week x 4-6 weeks) - Initial spelling ($60 – $70 per week x 8 weeks) - Pre-training ($120 – $150 per week x 12 weeks) - Mandatory initial vetinary check and vaccinations before racing ($250) - Registration fees to start racing ($100) We include these costs in the upfront price in order to make the ownership process a much easier one. Note that the above prices are a guide only. So rather than paying around $12,500 + to get a greyhound to ‘ready to race’ stage and having to spend all the time and energy involved in getting a greyhound to ‘ready to race’ stage, you can simply join our syndicate for a fraction of the cost!
